The Canon PIXMA G2500 is a discreet looking inkjet multifunction device (MFP) for general home use. It can print, scan and make copies, but not send or receive faxes, and Wi-Fi support lets you share it quickly over your home network. There's no USB port for direct printing, but there are SD card and Memory Stick ports, plus support for scanning or printing from cloud services like Dropbox. NFC support lets you match phones quickly, but we still believe it's more than just a gimmick.

The affordable price makes the G2500 not too complicated. There's no LCD control screen, for example. There's just a small set of buttons on the top left edge of the printer and the phrase that came up when we checked the build quality was "economical and cheerful.

The cover for the scanner system seems very light and we practically removed it when we first installed the printer. This unit also doesn't have a true internal paper tray, instead relying on a small plastic cover that folds down from the front of the unit to support a stack of up to 100 sheets of A4 paper. But at least it keeps the overall size of the printer small, and the G2500 will easily fit on a shelf or nearby workbench without taking up too much space.

The procedure for downloading and installing the printer driver
